Education
MBA, Concordia University, Wisconsin
After serving Scouting as a professional for 15 years, I decided to go back to school to enhance my skill set and earn my MBA with a focus in Leadership. Concordia University, Wisconsin was a great fit for me due to the in-classroom program which met evenings, allowing me to excel at my career while pursuing a graduate degree. Throughout the program, I was able to apply classroom learning to the practical application in my work to grow Scouting. I graduated with a G.P.A. of 3.93 (Summa Cum Laude).
Undergraduate studies at Missouri State University (MSU)
I graduated from MSU with a G.P.A. of 3.85 (Summa Cum Laude). As one of ten children, my parents instilled in me the value of education and quite simply, going to college was an expectation. Working multiple jobs throughout my college experience, I financed 100% of my college expenses. I raced bicycles for the MSU collegiate cycling team assuming the role as President of the team for my senior year.
Experience
I began my career as a District Executive for the Greater St. Louis Area Council. While serving as District Executive, I had the opportunity to serve as Summer Camp Director at S-F Scout Ranch and Camp Lewellyn. My second assignment took me to Minneapolis, Minnesota where I served as a Sr. District Executive, District Director and Field Director.
My next stop in my professional service came when I was promoted to Director of Program for the Indianhead Council in St. Paul, Minnesota. This was an incredibly rewarding opportunity to work with nationally recognized camps serving thousands of Scouts. When the Minneapolis and St. Paul Councils merged, I was selected to serve as the Director of Support Services for the Northern Star Council.
In 2008 I was selected to serve as the Scout Executive for the Samoset Council in Wausau, Wisconsin. Working with the Board of Directors and staff team, we led this Class 300 council to become ranked number 2 in the country in Journey to Excellence.
Currently, I serve as the Area Director for Area 3 in the Central Region working to ensure the success of 10 councils in Iowa, Illinois and Missouri.
Interests
First and foremost, as the father of three, I devote my time to family. I also take time to recharge my batteries through my hobbies of long distance trail running, marathon running, cycling and woodworking. Having run over 20 marathons, I now focus on ultra distance races of 50 kilometer and 50 mile trail races.
Weekends most often include a long trail run or mountain biking with friends. I also find peace in my woodshop creating furniture or refinishing an antique piece.
